X-posted from LJ; apologies to everyone who's going to get this twice but I was so happy I managed to get something resembling an actual pastel drawing/painting using the combined powers of AR2 and CP9. So why didn't I just draw in pastel? Not enough space + A4 scanner & no working digicam. But yeah, I'm happy because I'm slightly allergic to images created with the help of digital art media looking, well, digital. You're free to think me mad, but traditional media win every time for me.

The Tube is not my favourite mode of transport, being stuffy, crowded and late more often than not (I'm looking at you, Northern Line), but Transport for London do run an amazing bus network and I love that I can go on the underground and regular trains within the zones I need, and the buses in all of London on a single pass. You don't get that where I normally live (I'm looking at you, Autotrolej).
Also, TfL have always fascinated me with their keen sense of promotion, and I love encountering new Platform for Art instalments. The poster shown here is by David Booth, created in '86 to point to the Tate Gallery. I keep on being in awe of the brilliance of this: art (paint), modern art (minimalism), and the famous Tube map all in one. And it's a tube of paint bearing the iconic roundel. Design rarely gets better.

Thirteen doodles from London: people, things, thoughts. Including a breakfast at Tiffany's the British Museum, notes from a conference, seat belts, and girls wearing too much who I confess annoy me as much as girls wearing too little. Also, the 'red light drawing' technique is nothing dodgy ;), it's an exercise in how much you can catch while the bus is not moving. No pencils in here, all quick and unedited (some, as before, painfully so) pen work.
Since I don't really have time for drawings - the above are all digital (ok, the colouring is, except the background in #3, that's collage), an indulgence in restful moments - I hid all my materials in large boxes which I stored in such a way that I can't really be bothered to retrieve them. And today I bought some tempera and watercolours. Heaven help me.
Woo-hoo!
The great thing about drawings is that they can become something else in a second. Here's one which I inspiredly titled A Lady Leaving Her Castle Hurriedly. (You can replace 'her castle' with 'a party' and there too you have another story.) And then I messed around some more so I called it The Wrong Dress. But to tell you the truth, I wouldn't choose a possessed outfit either.
Zeus bless ArtRage. I'm too tired to think - but we painted the new office well, so the day isn't all lost! - and to compensate for not working on the NaNo challenge today, I drew an image from the story. Does that count as a thousand words?

Wait, wait. I knew I had something shiny around, and I found it when I went to search for a nice photo of a tiger balm jar. So have a photo of reflections from stained glass windows in the famed Durham cathedral, and please bear in mind that taking photos inside the cathedral is forbidden so this one was done quite clandestinely and blindly, as I held the camera half-hidden in my jacket. I'm such a rebel!
